I am so thankful that I chose Mykela to be my doula because she provided so much love, care, and knowledge to me during my pregnancy and the delivery. She checked in on me periodically and helped me learn different stretches and exercises that I could do during the last few months. She encouraged me that I would be strong enough to deliver without painkillers since that’s what I wanted! 

During the labor, I called Mykela to come to my house when my contractions were still a little irregular and she helped me with various positions to labor in which helped to speed things along. We used the exercise ball, curb walking, and hands and knees. Switching up positions often seemed to help me progress quickly. Once things were getting more intense, I was starting to question if I needed to go into the hospital and it was so helpful to have her there to help me determine when was the right time to go. Once we went to the hospital, I was already dilated to 8cm and was finding it hard to speak up for myself since the contractions were getting stronger, so Mykela made sure that the staff started getting the tub filled since that was one of the things that she knew I really wanted to use. She coached my husband on how he could help support me through the more intense contractions and was my voice during that time when I just needed to focus on my breathing and staying mentally strong. She kept reminding me that I was doing great and that I was so strong and I held onto those words to keep going! When it was time to push, it was only 30 minutes of pushing before our beautiful boy was born. Mykela was able to capture some sweet photos and videos of my husband and I and the baby right after he came out. It’s amazing to have those first few moments in memory forever! 

I would highly recommend Mykela to any new or experienced mom who wants extra support during labor and to make sure their voice is heard during the process. I feel so amazed that I was able to deliver the way I wanted and that everything went to smoothly. I’m not sure if I would have been able to do so without the extra support and guidance that she provided!

When Mykela first reached out to me explaining that she was a doula my fiancé and I had no idea what that even was. We met for lunch and She explained everything to me, so I went home and told my fiancé all about it and how I thought we could benefit so much since this was our first experience. She was there for me late nights when I just had questions or concerns and checked in every so often to see how things were going. My water broke on a Monday night, which changed my birth plans a little bit because they wanted me to go right into the hospital. She was there through it all. She was such a big help with making sure everything I had options for, to the different laboring positions, to the tub which was such a big help for me, showing my fiancé different techniques to help with contractions, helping me get through the contractions while getting an epidural, getting everything we needed and most of all being there for us in general! We will forever be grateful that she was there through it all with us.

 Please read. The world is changing and some things for the better some not so much but what I can't believe is how unprepared some Dr.s and OBGYNs leave their patients due to give birth. I understand a lot more is in there hands today than 26 years ago but educating your patients about what their body is doing and the ways to deal with it. That being said Lillian Nichols decided to use a midwife and Doula for her birth, however many midwifes do not work 7 days a week which is not expected of them so if you deliver when they are off you use an ONGYN. Well that's exactly what happened to Lilly and because she had her Doula she had a strong independent voice in her delivery to not only advocate for her to be sure she received what she wanted and someone to be at her side the entire time along with her support team, someone who is educated to help teach her and her team how to listen to her body and each other. The Dr.s are in and out taking care of several patients but the doula stays right at moms side and I can not express enough the importance of that. Mykela Fawn Czerwinski is Lilly's doula and please please please know that the education, instructions, care, love and guidance given from Mykela and other doulas is irreplaceable. Having mykela as a doula made all the difference in the world for Lilly and her support team. Please research and talk to doulas to find the one that will be your guardian before during and after childbirth because without mykela Lilly's very fast labor would have been a hot mess. Thank you Mykela so much for opening our world to your love and passion of helping mom, babies and support teams so blessed to have you!

Having Mykela by my side throughout my labor gave me the peace and confidence I desperately needed as a first time mom. My birth plan kept changing as my baby was measuring large. My best chance for safely delivering naturally was to have an unmedicated birth, so I could use different positions to push. I made it thirteenth hours unmedicated thanks to Mykela. She helped me with different positions and methods for coping with the pain. She helped my husband and mother-in-law to support and reassure me, particularly with counter pressure and massage.

 Most importantly though, Mykela was my voice when doctors or nurses were in the room. It's easy to feel pressured by hospital staff, but Mykela always ensured that I was comfortable with every decision. She spoke up for me when I was too exhausted to do so myself. And like me, my husband was unsure and new to everything, so it was beyond helpful to have Mykela there to explain my options and advocate for me. I would just look at her and she took care of everything.

 Mykela completely changed my birthing experience. I was so apprehensive and nervous about the unknown until I met her. Even after our little boy arrived, she continued to check on me and answered so many questions, from breastfeeding to tummy time. It was clear throughout my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum that she truly cared and was dedicated to helping me love my journey into motherhood. I would recommend her to anyone pregnant, especially new mothers!

There is some backstory in my review here, but I am so happy we hired Mykela!! She is the best!!! To start this review off I honestly was very skeptical about hiring a doula, but I was very wrong!! I regret not having a doulamy first 2 times. We had went with a midwife (who we really liked) here with all our pregnancies due to issues we have had with doctors in the past. We felt pushed around and no one was listening to what we were saying like we were just a number to them. We wanted a more personal experience with someone who really knew us and understood our concerns, wants or needs. Unfortunately, my midwife who was a part of our support system was injured and was unable to be there anymore. I was almost to my induction date about 2 weeks out and was super stressed cause she didn’t have any other midwife in her practice. With this we ended up being sent to the care of a doctor again. 

My husband was the one to suggest hiring a doula. I wasn’t for it thinking we were too far along to find anyone and just thought they were not necessary (I was definitely wrong about this). Our Friends heard what happened to us and they highly recommended Mykela to us. So, I called her and set an appointment up for us. She came over and told us what it was that a doula actually was and what they did in terms of helping both mom and dad during delivery. She had also told us it definitely was not too late, and she sat us down and asked questions about us. Along with that she had suggested we try and do things we never really thought about like writing down an actual written birth plan so they can know what we wanted. She also gave us several pain reliving stretches and positions for comfort. She also explains ways I can help my breastfeeding journey go further than I was able to before. She kept in contact with us, making sure we didn’t need anything and that we were all right.

When the day came, she was right there at the hospital and was a great support to my husband. She was helping keep him calm and helping me through labor. My birth plan was very flexible, we just wanted to avoid an unnecessary C-section. My first 2 births were not a c-section either, but each of them did have something traumatic happen that just made those births very hard. We were able to avoid that between Mykela having me try different positions and applying counter pressure during the contractions I felt this helped us a lot. With her help this labor, delivery, and recovery was the best experience out of all 3 of my births!! She came afterwards as well to make sure I was doing ok after the birth and even followed up at home with nursing. She was able to help us with a payment plan that worked for our family. I'm so grateful that we had Mykela this time!! We’ve talked about possibly having more kids in the future. I will definitely say we won’t be going through this without Mykela again!! I highly recommend anyone who is about to have a baby whether it’s your first time, or 3rd time please get Mykela as your doula!!! You won’t regret it!!

My husband and I cannot recommend Mykela enough! When we first met with Mykela we had every intention of her being there with us to help us deliver our baby, however that changed due to us having an elective c-section at 37 weeks because I was diagnosed with cholestasis. However, Mykela helped us prep for many different options and was there for me any time of the day when I needed help. One of the most significant times was when I realized I may have cholestasis and it was late at night. She helped keep me calm that evening and the next day while I contacted and waited for the doctor to get back to me. She was so helpful at helping us make packing lists for the hospital and getting things ready for postpartum. Her prenatal and postpartum visits have helped both of us so much and she’s always there for us when we need her! We’re so grateful Mykela was apart of our pregnancy journey and highly recommend her!
